GoPro HERO4 Black and Silver

DroneDeploy now supports the newest cameras in the GoPro line. Of course they’re faster and better than ever!

If you going to use it to create maps and 3D models, you’ll appreciate slightly higher sharpness in photos and faster photo speeds, enabling higher front lap in maps.

Getting your new HERO4 working is quick and easy; follow the instructions here to get it working with your smartphone. Once you have the GoPro working with your smartphone, you can turn the camera’s WiFi network on by pressing the settings button (on the side of the camera). You will then be able to use your HERO4 Black or Silver with DroneDeploy the same as you would a HERO3.

Notes:

  1. It’s a good idea to ensure that your GoPro is running the most recent firmware by following the instructions here. If your firmware is not up-to-date, you may experience occasional loss of WiFi connection.
  2. If you turn on the cameras WiFi from the setup menu, make sure you select “GoPro APP” → “Existing”, rather than “GoPro APP” → “New”.
