Women — Then and Now

Virginia Woolf
Women have served all these centuries as looking-glasses possessing the magic and delicious power of reflecting the figure of man at twice its natural size.” — Virginia Woolf ,
A room of one’s own, 1929.

Inspired by the writer and the state she describes. Astonished at what we were, still stagnated, I question myself “Have we evolved?”

Women Then and Now

Women capable and conscious yet so powerless,
 Standing tall and diligent dealing with mess;

Created by the man of anger and pride,
 she throws her wisdom for she is a bride;

The shell she serves is all a man’s mirror,
 increasing his ego and he arrogantly steers her;

Delicate and kind her heart filled with love,
 her qualities and care, outta the door he shoves;

The magic that beholds all souls in a bond,
 Was merely the love of the woman pawned;

For the great wise men took her like a deal,
 over the history, she meant to only serve meal;

Overlooked her greatness from time to time,
 her rebel was thrown in the books of crime;

We still live in the ruins of misogyny,
 and misjudging beings exhibiting philogyny;

Have we changed from history to now?
 Casting her away and the beautiful vows!
