I’m very interested in this self help and development genre. I find that a large chunk of these books are pretenders, though — they present themselves as smart and effective, they tell you what to avoid and what mistakes unsuccessful people make. These are important things to know, but they don’t actually point you in the right direction and don’t offer you helpful tips.
It’s important to look for practical ideas, instead of filler material.
