Welcome to our Blog series showcasing some of the best of the local shops, businesses and talent in and around Dulwich.

This month the Dulwich Daily spoke to Katie Greengrass, owner of boutique Mac & Miller. Katie first started out as a small pop up on Northcross Road, but can now be found in her permanent shop at number 61 — those with a sharp eye will have spotted that she moved two doors down!

1. Welcome to East Dulwich Katie, can you tell me a little bit about yourself, the business, and what made you set up here?

I worked as a stylist for 18 years starting out as an intern at Vogue and worked as a stylist and costume designer in music , tv, and film (see my website for info: www.katiegreengrass.co.uk)

I wanted a career change and felt that East Dulwich lacked a reallly fashionable clothing store with high street prices. Many of my customers have children and simply don’t have the time to shop in central London. So I wanted to bring a slice of the high street to ED. We offer free styling advice in store as well as alterations and free marshmallows!

2. What’s the story behind the name?

Mac is my bengal kitten (he’s my baby!!) and Miller is my grandad Miller who helped me start the business when I opened my tiny pop up a year ago. He has always been very supportive of my career. He used to send me a Vogue every month — hence the piles of Vogues in the store!

3. Do you have a bestselling, or favourite, product?

Our luxe joggers (£49) are our best seller — they are 100 percent cotton and come in 6 colours per season. They are a great alternative to jeans and leggings and are smart, fashionable and super soft. People get addicted and always come back for more colours!

4. I love that you’re big fans of Dulwich Hamlet FC, have you been long time fans, and how did you get involved with the club to sell their merchandise?

I approached them as I wanted to support local (I have been very supported in opening especially by Postmark next door, Franklins and Meat Liquor). Community is very important in East Dulwich and people are extremely supportive of their independents. We’re really lucky to have such a fantastic local club and I love the colours!

5. What other shops or businesses do you think would be a welcome addition to North Cross Road or Lordship Lane?

It would be great to see more independents on Northcross road and would be great to have a bit more nightlife too. We are thinking of doing late night shopping and Prosecco evenings for the new season so watch this space…..!

Well the Dulwich Daily is certainly looking forward to that…

Thanks Katie. You can find out more about Mac & Miller online here.

If you would like to follow us for more stories and news about the local area, you can find us over on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. We’d love to hear from you.
