Your article is a direct hit on something I had grasped but not been able to quantify or give a good example of. I did realize recently that the “free” Internet was below cost simply to gain eyeballs. Everything on the internet is harder to do now, requiring more and more personal information with narrower choices. In another generation or two the holdouts will weaken or die and guess what. The wild west of freedom that was the Internet will be gone, just another “system” to conform to. Really, everything that I like and enjoy about the Internet seems to be gone. It’s such a chore now that I rarely engage.
