Do you Need to Exercise to Lose Weight

Recently I have been tagged in a few Fakebook posts from articles about how it is all about Diet when it comes to losing weight and exercise is only like 30% of the issue when it comes to weight loss

This could well be true and over the years we have had clients who have trained very well but never got anywhere due to their Diet being rubbish

When it comes to purely weight loss Exercise may come in at 30% but I think it deserves a little higher than that, I would give it 40%

And regards the exercise in these studies

They always refer to steady state cardio nonsense

It never seems to be 3 to 5 sessions a week of good solid Resistance training of hitting every muscle group in the body

So I take that with a pinch of salt

And the big issues with training is the many many benefits you get besides weight loss

For a start proper exercise will make you more conscious of eating better food

I have seen loads of people have to stop exercising for whatever reason and then their diet goes to pot because they simply can't get themselves focused

Along with all the other benefits I have mentioned in these emails over the years

Such as getting lean and toned so you don't have that "Skinny Fat" look people get from just purely dieting

Having way more confidence

Moving much better so you can get about better and not be getting little aches and pains and struggling to move about from pure stiffness over time

Improving your health so you have a better quality of life going forward

And all the other little things that proper exercise does to improve your life

So the glossy mags and scare mongering media can stick their hypey headlines

O and proper exercise will also get you stronger like this current 6 Week member in Enniskillen has

Hi Darragh!
I am happy to report than I'm seriously enjoying the classes. Diet... well... changes have been made but there is definitely room for improvement!
I have always enjoyed exercise but had trouble maintaining my commitment and motivation long term. Example, I like running but I have to have an event to train for to keep the motivation then after the event I won't run until the next one is booked. So when I signed up to the programme I hadn't exercised since the Dublin marathon which was in Oct 15. The programme gave me an opportunity to try a new type of exercise and I really love it. No two classes are the same, they are quick, Stephen and Alan (haven't been in your class yet!) are great instructors and I can feel myself getting stronger. I'm a gymnastics instructor and train a girls Gaelic team and I've been put off classes before because the warming up, cooling down and stretching isn't done properly in my opinion its important and it should be done correctly. I'm really impressed with the way it's done at your gym and I've totally stolen a few exercises for my training sessions too! I want to continue with Dutchyfitness long term and fully intend to sign up after this 6 weeks.
So... diet... Dinners are much better more protein less carbohydrates. I'm eating loads more fruit and veg however the crisps and chocolate is still in the cupboards and I know that needs sorting out.
My main intention with the classes was to tone up more than lose weight. I feel far better in myself way more energy and feel stronger. Mission is already accomplished for me to be honest but I'll go flat out for these last two weeks to see what I can achieve.
Also your emails are great for those days you need a wee push out the door or to put the crisps back into the cupboard!
Thanks for checking in, you have one very satisfied costumer here

because ya know,

Strong is the new skinny!

And having way more energy is something you don't get from lying on your ass and just dieting

So eat that with your "70% diet" studies.....

Think Big And Kick Ass
