Steve Jobs: Visionary or Bellend?
So Saturday night we went to see the new Steve Jobs on Saturday night
Have seen a documentary on him before and read up a few thing’s so was looking forward to it
It wasn’t the best movie ever but was interesting all the same
He definitely was an eccentric character and hard to know what to make of him
He seemed to be very demanding, a bit of an asshole and maybe got way more credit than he deserved…
but he did seem to be visionary for what could be achieved in the future.
No one is perfect and we can learn from most people, especially dude’s like Steve Jobs
Would as much have been done if he wasn’t as demanding?
Would standards have dropped to where we wouldn’t be talking about him or apple at all now?
The one thing that really stands out for me is that if he didn’t have as much influence in the creation of the computer’s/ phones etc he done a hell of a job of marketing himself
But I guess history will show how influential he was as if the products don’t continue to improve and stay at a very high level then it could well prove him right
Marketing is essential to business, some people want to huff and cry that marketing is bad but business comes down to 2 things
1 – Have an excellent product
2 – Market the shit out of that product
And anyone that has a problem with that simply doesn’t understand the big bad world
He also had a great quote that I loved:
“Whoever said the customer is always right was obviously a customer”
Something I have also said before is if we listened to various customer ideas we would be having spin classes, Pilates classes, TRX only classes, Kettlebell only classes and of course doing LOADS of cardio and crunches because that’s how you lose weight and belly fat!
So we have to find the balance of solid feedback that is constructive or not…
But a lot of the time you just have to trust your gut knowing a certain way is right and go with what you know is best for people, even if they don’t know it yet themselves.
