10 Big Ethical issues the press would rather pretend are not their job to report on but claim#Gamergate is responsible for dealing with
10. App stores discouraging developers who want to make games that deal with politics or sexuality.
Welcome to just what the press did to Steam and Hatred. Remember the claims of Steam being a private store and could do what they like ?

The Mobile market is very different to the PC or console games market and you know what while most Gamers dip into it you’re comparing the Nintendo DS to the PS4 they cater to very different thing and you know what while there is some overlap not that many people who play console PC or own handhelds are super crazy into mobile gaming. Should something be done about this ? Sure but how about trying to stop co-opting #Gamergate into taking fights the press are too chicken to do and should be the ones taking. The press exist to tackle these issues. #Gamergate exists to give the press a kick up to rear to do their job and be hard hitting journalists not nepotistic parts in an advertising system.
9. Nothing tells women, “we’re not here to speak to you,” like hosting a networking event at a strip club.
Well done for the lie there as the link says nothing about events in Strip Clubs. Maybe focus on that journalism a bit more and you’d have been able to see that with a quick search command it’s not been happening.
You know which group does seem to enjoy it’s stripper parties though ?
This anti gamergate journalist

8. There is often no legal recourse for a small developer if a large studio clones a game’s design wholesale.
Except you know the public response to it.
7. Publications hungry for content, eager to pass off promotional material as news, presenting touched up renders as in-game screenshots.
Except Gamergate did touch on this and call it out. Heck before there was Gamergate members of the new press were calling this out.
6. ‘Crunch time’ and other exploitative labor practices.
So once again you want #Gamergate to act as the police for the industry and call out bad practice ?
What are the press here for again ? Isn’t it their job to uncover scandals and keep the industry in check ? Or are people all too happy to just sit there are act as glorified PR agents for these companies.
5. The use of conflict minerals and other ethical violations in the supply chain.
So now you expect #Gamergate to fight for ethical supply chains ? You know what not the job of #Gamergate. If you want this then ask the press where they are on it because you realise Ipads and many other electrical devices use the same rare minerals right ? I’m not saying this isn’t an issue but this isn’t the issue #Gamergate needs to be fighting. The press needs to be uncovering this not sitting comfortably in their nice office being paid to release press releases given to them. Oh and more stores should totally sell Fair Trade Cola, that stuff tastes lovely.

4. Publications that brazenly accept payment for advertorial ‘sponsored reviews.’
We do act on this. We laugh at them and don’t support them. Also again Mobile market. The mobile market is to core gaming what TV is to the Movie industry. They’re difference creatures at present.
3. Hiring practices that treat developers as disposable.
As the industry grows and approaches the level of Hollywood budgets then the concept of a Studio is a far more fluid thing and while it may seem people are treated as disposable it’s going to become more of the normal and developers may soon be considered independent contractors rather than developers specific to a studio.
2. The troubling relationship between video game developers and arms manufacturers.
Oh you mean like I myself brought up when challenged and check the comments for far more cool research people have brought up.
1 When you buy games, you don’t necessarily own them — and may not be able to play them in the future.
You know what. Isn’t this just the kind of thing the press would be all over ?
So How about I put some things to you, to the person or people who wish to direct #Gamergate as a glorified attack dog.
It is not #Gamergate’s job nor has it ever been to go after ethical issues the press are too scared to deal with. #Gamergate is here to make the press face up to these things and do their job.
It’s disgusting that I was the one who broke the news about Microsoft’s late payment. Me a Gamergate supporter with a tiny blog. It’s thanks to #Gamergate that the issue saw the light of day. When me an unpaid unprofessional Journalist is hitting on issues like this you have to ask where the press are ? I mean hell none of the Gaming press reported on the electroshock device being sold as a gaming performance enhancer. I did. #Gamergate exists to make the press face up to their job as journalists. It’s doesn’t serve as an attack dog to deal with issues the press are too scared to deal with. Maybe it’s time the press tried tackling these issues and not expecting #gamergate to do it for them. Who knows maybe they’d even have some support doing that rather than making fake claims against developers by taking comments out of context. Even when called out on it later.
