When Next We Meet…

(Note: The first two lines of this poem were used by Mike Essig as a prompt to Diane Wakoski's prompt for students in her poetry workshops.)

Next time we meet,

Let’s keep our clothes on.

Let’s dissolve our scars in threads;

Let’s keep our lard in check.

Let’s trim our giddy hairs

And insist the lights off.

Let us, parce que our bodies never loved us enough to be: svelte / hourglass / blue-eyed / large butt /small waist /34DDD /light skinned /firm / Victoria secret / summer /…basically generic.
