Every decade I come back to ‘A la Recherche…’ and find that I enjoy different sections each time, as my circumstances and experiences change; it really is a joy for life and a constant companion.

And no, I do not miss Facebook either, even though there is probably a nice Proust appreciation page on there somewhere; our time is certainly better spent reading the book than reading clickbait articles online……………

Lets not kid ourselves though: if Marcel were alive today he would have been all over Facebook and Instagram, cultivating those precious friends and followers — inbetween inevitable jags of self-loathing at the triviality of it all.
