Child Care Costs More Than In-State College Tuition

$450/week for two kids, so about $23k yearly here — and mine is the cheapest I’ve found in my state. The reason it’s so expensive is it’s human-being-intensive. There are rules about what the adult/child ratio can be, meaning it doesn’t really scale as a business.
What’s weird is that $23k is both insanely expensive and also a bargain when you think how many different people are spending 8 hours of their day keeping my kids kids dry, safe and fed.
I don’t know what the solution would be besides subsidizing it more as they do in other countries — which I’m for - but the bill is still being paid, it’s just spread across more people and paid for as taxes.
