What is EBEC?
EBEC, standing for European BEST Engineering Competition, is the biggest engineering competition in Europe organized from students for students. This project has a special three-level structure: Local Rounds, National/Regional Rounds and the Final Round. The right to take part in EBEC has each student that comes from a technical university where a Local BEST Group is operating.
EBEC Project begins with the Local Rounds, counting 85 in total. The winning teams of each Local Round then proceed to one of the 15 National or Regional Rounds, respective to the city in which the local round took place in. Finally, the winning teams of The National and Regional Rounds now proceed to EBEC Final, which this year will happen in Brno, Czech Republic.
The students are divided into teams consisting of four participants each. These teams choose to compete in one of the two categories: Team Design or Case Study. The teams taking part in the Team Design category, have limited time to design and construct a creative solution to an engineering problem, according to the task given. Participants in the Case Study category work on an intensive analysis of a technology problem and come up with detailed suggestions for a solution to the given problem.
EBEC Project is organized and coordinated by students that are members of Local BEST Groups around Europe. BEST (Board of European Students of Technology) is a non-profit, apolitical student organisation that strives to provide high-quality services to students by bringing closer the stakeholders from “students — universities — companies” triangle.
