Naturally Sweet News: New Products With No Added Sugar
It’s happening! Companies are becoming more and more aware of the dangers of added sugars and have begun to meet the demand from the public for products with NO added sugars. Yogurts and granolas are two products that generally contain significant amounts of added sugars, but two new products from leading brands released recently prove that “tasty” is not synonymous with “sugary.”

Siggi’s yogurt is one of these innovative food companies. Siggi’s recently launched two new fruit yogurt flavors that have no added sugar: banana & cinnamon and peach & mango yogurt. These fruit yogurts are exactly what we have been waiting for; instead of added sugar, they are sweetened completely with fruit and do not contain any artificial sweeteners. They contain 120 calories or less and 5 grams of sugar per serving, but these 5 grams are natural sugars found in the fruit and the yogurt.
Alpen is another company with a newly launched product without added sugars: “No Sugar Added Muesli.” This product is made from a blend of rolled oats, whole grain wheat flakes, hazelnuts, almonds, and raisins, versus the original version which contains brown cane sugar. This new version is just as, if not more, delicious. It is also high in fiber and low in saturated fats. This will be the first granola in our SugAR Poke app database to have a green label, indicating that it is a product without added sugar.

These products are just the start of a powerful movement against added sugars. We see a future in which the norm for our food products is to be without added sugars, but until then, we’ll continue our quest to educate the public and spread awareness of these hidden added sugars…
Kudos to companies listening to consumer demands for healthy and tasty products with no added sugars!
