I am running for Grimes City Council, because I believe we are at a critical juncture in the growth of our city that offers tremendous opportunities. In the past 15 years our community has doubled in size — presenting great challenges, but more importantly, the opportunity to shape the future growth of our community.
Three areas I believe we need to focus on are:
Reducing Taxes
Our rapid residential growth has led to high property taxes. I believe we need to focus on smart commercial property growth to stabilize our tax base and reduce property tax levy rates.
Expanding Infrastructure
We must address Grimes’ traffic concerns by expanding our road infrastructure between Grimes and the interstate. This will be key to our growth in the next four years and beyond.
Improving Quality of Life
Grimes is a young, vibrant community with a good trail system. As our city expands, so too must our trail system and parks. Linking our trail system to those in neighboring cities will expand the recreational possibilities for our residents. The city should also focus on establishing high-quality, neighborhood parks accessible via our trails.
I am asking for your vote on Tuesday, November 3 and look forward to hearing your ideas for a better Grimes.
Vote Eric Johansen on November 3!
