But how much more powerful would it be if we also supported indigenous entrepreneurs in creating such products and companies rather than just the white outsiders?
Africa Needs African Entrepreneurs

This is the greatest issue I see in Kenya. There are millions of indiginous entreprenuers open to learning and expanding their small businesses but the “white saviour” mentality is so pervasive here that no one wants to work with indigenous business people and assist them. Instead, they want to be the ones getting the applause abroad for “doing their part to save Africa.” For example, there are a dozen companies started by white people trying to improve the jiko (charcoal stove). Why not use the western connections and aid money to help Kenyans building their own? Surely if millions of Kenyans are still using the original version instead of the energy saving one, there’s a reason?
