The problem with your analogy is that the three previous administrations HAVE done a lot of shooting. During the Dubya administration, lefties did plenty of griping (and I was one), but during the Clinton and Obama administrations, lefties were enthusiastic cheerleaders and there was no antiwar sentiment to be seen.

That would include Ms Streep, by the way. For some reason, she appears unconcerned with the fact that Mr. Obama and Ms Clinton racked up a body count roughly equal to Mr. Bush’s.

It seems many, like the author of the original essay, are preoccupied with spruiking for teams and personalities, and have no concern for what actually takes place during the game. Not real concern. It all boils down to posturing.

And tragedies have inevitably followed that kind of indifference.
