You’re already aware that the best tactics for keeping your team productive include a good work environment and collaborative working relationships. You can’t simply give your team goals and tell them they must work long exhausting hours to meet them. In fact, that’s a sure way to fail because your team will have no real motivation for doing a good job. Focusing on creating a positive and energizing work environment can significantly boost your company’s productivity. Here are some easy steps to make your team more productive.
#1: Recognize the motivation factor.
One of the crucial factors that determines workplace productivity is understanding what employees need in order to be more productive. Motivation can involve different tactics for different team members. Understanding what motivates them is in fact hard work. So, you have to get to know the people on your team. - Have an employee of the month award. Just being recognized for the work completed can revitalize interest in a project. It’s not all about money — people like to feel proud of what they do.

So, thinking out of the box may be required to find ways that get your team to open up with their ideas.
First of all, promote an environment where individuals feel like they are being listened to. You may not be able to act on every comment you receive, but if the communication is not even acknowledged, your team may feel like it’s pointless. You could then lose a valuable source of information about how daily operations are going. In-house surveys are one way you could quickly get feedback without putting employees on the spot.
#3: Move to a flexible work schedule.
A flexible work schedule means your office may not necessarily have specific times to start and end work. Different offices can enforce this policy in various ways. You may have a set number of hours required for your team. So, team members may clock in at various times but all stay for eight hours. If you embrace a policy like this, you’ll need to set some guidelines for your team. For instance, maybe they can come in at any time between 7:00 and 9:30 A.M. Or perhaps they can have the option of either a half-hour lunch or full hour lunch.
Of course, some positions require an individual to be at their station at certain times, for instance customer service with set phone hours. But, you may be able to stagger clock-in times for various team members to help meet everyone’s scheduling needs. Overly strict schedules can cause stress for workers, especially as they try to balance their other life and family priorities. But, with the technology available today, many companies are able to allow more flexibility in schedules, especially if team members can complete some work outside the office.
