N ovember 21, 2017, is a day the world and the people of Zimbabwe will remember. After 37 years of ruling Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe finally resigns, this has been a long-time coming and Zimbabweans could not be happier, now they can embark on a new journey to being a democratic country. Recap: Robert Mugabe and his family were taking into custody by the military after the coup. He and his family were put on house arrest. However, with reports illustrating Robert Mugabe out at a graduation, many Zimbabweans and international leaders were uncertain if Mugabe had actually resigned. Not until Tuesday, Robert Mugabe officially gave his resignation, now Zimbabweans can begin a new chapter for their lives and their country. Robert Mugabe is the longest-serving dictator of any country, he came into power after liberating Zimbabwe from the British in 1980. Throughout his reign, Robert Mugabe has been a controversial figure and has severely damaged Zimbabwe which will take decades to repair.
