This is why the show resonated with me so much. It seems like after all those years watching Seinfeld as a sarcastic southern black kid, I was preparing myself for the perfect show for me (was tempted to write in third person). https://medium.com/the-importance-of-being-earnest/my-favorite-show-about-nothing-abd29012e9d4#.pvw0e6yw9
Great post. I agree with a number of the points you made about the day to day in VC. It’s an awesome opportunity but I think many of those who are interested don’t take into account what journey entails. Thanks for your candor in the post. I will definitely point others to this post going forward as prep before I share my experience in VC.
Mark thanks for sharing this story and for your comments. I also hope that more athletes stand up for what is right and force the country to have a real discussion about race and injustice. I’m curious to know what your thoughts are on how technology has played in the nation’s conversation about these injustices. Do you think the Internet and social media have disrupted our nation’s apathy to these issues?
This is so true and resonates with me in the verticals I cover. Founding teams have great ideas for financial services, education and real estate but have no connection to the day to day practitioners. These relationships lead to the real insights that lead to disruptive products that take advantage of these huge markets.
