A Few of Midwestern Oil’s Community Education Initiatives
With more than a decade’s experience in the petroleum and financial industries, Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru currently serves as corporate financial analyst at Lagos, Nigeria-based Western Oil and Gas Limited. In line with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Edesiri Onatejiroghene Ibru’s company is involved in a number of social projects.
Western Oil and Gas credits part of its success to its ability to live in harmony with its host communities. The company states that this is due to the CSR projects that it has launched over the years, which has delivered marked improvements to host communities.
One of the company’s social projects is in the area of education. In the Umusadege community, it has constructed one block of six classrooms while in Ogbeani (Lagos Ogbe), it has constructed one block of three class rooms.
Midwestern also has funded the construction of classroom desks for Unusadege schools and has also donated thousands of school notebooks for host communities. Since 2006, it has provided scholarships and educational assistance for post-primary, secondary, and remedial programs.
