  1. For this sprint, I drew 10 different sketches on the topic of “Eating” and then chose 1 of those 10 and sketched 10 different variations to that sketch so in total I drew 20 different sketches. This sprint had us try to get us in the mindset of being open to new and out of the ordinary ideas and to connect those ideas with the users. Also, this assignment stretched my thinking on realizing that sketching is essential when coming up with an idea because sketching helps you showcase your idea and how it would be used if it would become a prototype.
My brainstorm list of what I was going to draw and the 1 sketch with the 10 variations
My favorite idea of the 10 sketches
My favorite variation of my favorite idea

2. At first it was difficult for me to come up with ideas on what to draw because it was such a broad topic but once I got some help from my T.A I didn’t put down my pencil until I was finished sketching all my ideas. I learned that asking for advice can benefit you by inspiring you to do new and different things. Some questions that I had while doing this assignment was “How do people get unstuck when they can’t think of anymore ideas?” and “Do people working in this field ask or interview others before coming up with their ideas so they know what they can improve?”

3. Q: What did you like about this project, and why?
A: I really liked everything about this project but mostly because it helped me get into a creative mindset. Next, I didn’t think I liked to sketch or draw but this assignment made me realize that sketching is fun and that trying to connect your ideas to sketching is much more difficult then I thought so I want to get better at drawing so I can display my ideas in a better manner. In addition, I liked that this project allowed me to come up with any ideas that I wanted and that it related to the video we watched about IDEO because I find that company to be really fascinating and they have such great teamwork and a great process to come up with a project.

4. Like I said above, a company that has mastered this art is IDEO because they sketch many of their ideas about the project at hand and try to make it user centered and they even go out into the real world and ask users what could be improved which to me is great because they are getting real life feedback. I think any place that needs a design could definitely use this process like for example visual designers that are drawing cartoon characters or designing a company logo. This process could be vital to society because it involves sketching different ideas and then solidifying it to get their most promising design.
