As a result of a greater degree of shared responsibilities, you’ll get the opportunity to make critical design decisions that impact the product, and the business goals of your organization.
Why design at a startup when starting design
Moaaz Sidat

Personally, especially as a fresh designer, this doesn’t work. I choose to work at 2 startup-cultured corporate companies to learn the design systems that create a systematic workflow. Startups need to grow and innovate fast. I personally wouldn’t know how to bring in as much value or create “critical design decisions” without a background working in corporate settings — in the end hand holding and needing a lot of attention working with directors of not practiced. I would feel bad using a startup as a trial and error platform to learn. Just my personal thought as I am a lot more confident representing a start up and currently working at one now.
