You’re Not Busy, You’re Needy

Warning: This post might mess with your head

I do not use the ‘b’ word. (busy)

I do not use the ‘h’ word. (hectic)

There may be constraints of time and energy.

There may be only so much we can do in a day.

I may otherwise be occupied. I might have other ways I need to spend my time.

But I am not “busy”. If I were to use the word, I would say THINGS are busy — my schedule is busy. But I will not identify with BEING it in an attempt to make myself feel important.

‘Busy’ has connotations of things I never want to be a part of my life.

I could be the most ‘active’ person in the world. I’ll never be ‘busy’.

‘Busy’ is a bad attitude — one many of us try to wear as a badge of honour.

Really it’s a sign of neediness and a cry for attention (‘look at me, look how significant I am!’).
