What Is Going On With Retail?
Nicole Dieker

This is timely, since just this past weekend I needed (well, ok, “needed”) something to wear to a bachelorette party and realized that, in my new home, all of my go-to mall stores are, uh, not here. Or anywhere close to here. I moved an hour and a half away from where I used to live and it wasn’t until this weekend that I realized that I more or less have to drive back to where I used to live if I want to shop at a bricks and mortar outpost of the mall stores I usually shop in — and I’m talking about Gap and Banana Republic, not anything exotic or even especially high end. I know the demographics are different, but I didn’t realize they were that different.
