Excellent question, Jeff. From my observation and interviews, most people had full-time jobs and operated a fish-farm for supplemental income. In fact, Yemi did not think he would go into this business full-time. This leads me to think the industry has not matured enough to pull citizens from neighboring regions. By “bustling”, I meant the region seemed to have a higher per capita production and consumption of fish than the average city in Nigeria.
