You’re very correct in your assessment about competition. It is very important. When Japan began to focus on manufacturing automobiles, the country effectively made it difficult/almost impossible for the American autos in Japan to compete. Hence they, Ford, GM moved out and Japan adopted their distribution systems.
Dangote probably wouldn’t have been able to compete globally and probably still isn’t. But if he is successful in Nigeria/Africa and he innovates, then he could develop his expertise so he can compete globally. Hope that makes sense.
