14. Adrenalin — No Fear, No Limits, No Going Back
After the freak hatching of both JellyEye and JellyGuy from the same EGG, The Professor started to form an idea in his head. Hatching two Monsters from one Egg would be efficient but what if one of those Monsters was hidden from view? Rarer than the other and concealed until activated. Such a process would surely mean sacrificing the original Monster but the result would be worth it. He poured a whisky and got to work on more Lab EGGs.
The Professor had wanted to create a Monster free of fear for some time, sure it would take extra work but the Monster that hatched would be a true warrior in battle. Of course, being completely free from fear has its downsides too. Their judgement could be compromised and they might take unnecessary risks. In anticipation of a reckless nature Adrenalin was hatched with a helmet that covered over fifty per cent of his body providing protection from most of the damage that his body was to endure on a daily basis.
Adrenalin liked to go high.
Adrenalin liked to freefall.
But mostly Adrenalin liked to go fast!
He would visit HalfHatched from sunup to sundown asking for a new gadget to help him surf the sand dunes in DesertLand. Or for a parachute made from the wide leaves of the Envit Tree. Or for a lava-powered pack to strap to his back and help him fly above the towering, spiked shards of Ice World. He lived in those moments between life and death. Not content to stand on the edge of a tall mountain, he had to know how it felt to step off.
The other Monsters either loved him or hated him as he would constantly try to rope them into joining his daring feats. His energy could be infectious and crowds would often gather to see what his next crazy scheme would be. But in Battle his recklessness could be a danger to others, so much so that it was said that some of his bad decisions had cost lives.
Maybe one day a Monster will come along who will convince Adrenalin to take less risks. A Monster that is so important to Adrenalin that his only thought will be of how he can keep them safe. But until that day, danger will be the code he lives by…danger to himself and a danger to others.
