4. JellyEye — The Oldest Twin
Whether you are a Monster or a Human, there is a good chance you will like JellyEye. Not because he is particularly strong, or clever, or even charming, no, you will like him because he wants you to. Stand too close and he can change your feelings as easily as blinking his one Giant Eye.
The Professor celebrated with a quick shot of whisky when JellyEye was born, for at last he had hatched a monster who could see, unlike his previous three hatchings. Overwhelmed with his success he scooped JellyEye up in his arms and held him aloft like a winning trophy, allowing himself a smile for the first time since the LabShip had crashed.
Yet there was sadness emanating from this monster who could make all those around him happy. He would pace the lab searching through the scraps of discarded EGG, almost as though he wished he could climb back in. Until one day, at first sun, there was a scratching noise, barely audible to everyone else but came like new-born’s cry to JellyEye’s senses. From underneath the broken shell that JellyEye had once hatched from, a new Monster emerged: JellyGuy.
Complete at last, JellyEye moved closer to his twin, the bond between the two of them blanketing them like an impenetrable force field. Both lucky enough to experience the strength and security that only comes from a true and pure partnership.
Waking just in time to witness this miracle hatching, The Professor realised that the EGGs could be manually adapted to allow for more than one Monster to be contained within. A rarer monster could be concealed under the guise of a Regular EGG. He grabbed his notebook and started scribbling…
