I would agree. Having an opportunity for graciousness is a similar instinct to avoiding conflict, especially when conflict does not seem likely due to the way the request is made. But I still don’t think the word “because” or even the offering of an arbitrary reason has any real influence on people’s reason and decision making like its some kind of Jedi mind trick.
