Guys, ElDuderino has figured out my problem. I, apparently, lack balls.

Okay, I will fuck off. I’m glad you took my advice and didn’t worry too much about how I might feel. Its nice isn’t it, kinda feels good to speak your mind.

Look, I’m not interested in yelling “nigger” at black dudes in Harlem, it will probably get me killed, just as telling rape jokes at the company picnic will probably get me fired, just as calling a gay man a faggot will probably lead to a heavy Gucci handbag across my face.

At no point did I suggest it was a good idea to go around purposefully offending people, but I get to decide what I think may or may not be offensive, I am not going to say something and then be told that what I said was offensive.

You see, sometimes, we want to communicate ideas, ideas that in some circles may be controversial. Other times, we just want to have fun and tell an off-color joke. Telling a joke that puts a particular race in a bad light doesn’t make me a racist, it makes me fucking fun to be around.

Here is an example: I went to Mexico and noticed that they sell an awful lot of huge silly looking sombreros to white people, so obviously, only white liberal college kids think wearing sombreros is offensive to Mexicans. I went to the bar and ordered a “Mexican Water” the bartender laughed and handed me a beer.

Now, these things are all fun, what about more controversial topics, like bathrooms.

I frankly dont care which bathroom anyone uses, but why does someone with a penis need to use the ladies room and why does someone with a vagina need to use the mens room? Its a fair question to ask and it is relevant to our current political reality, yet, I have asked that very question, with all sincerity on Medium and have been summarily dismissed as transphobic. I am anything but transphobic. As a libertarian, I have been fighting for basic rights of people for longer than most Medium users have been alive, but if I sit here and spot check my thoughts every time I write something, or bring up a topic of interest, I will NEVER get to fully express myself and explore ideas with other people. Can I bring up the efficacy of a national $15 minimum wage without being a racist? Apparently to even question it is to be racist in the minds of certain people, so, I guess we shan’t debate that either.

You can make fun of me, I’m okay with that, even used to it. You can put up ridiculous stra-man arguments against what I’ve said, like saying freedom is about yelling “nigger” in Harlem or something, I don’t care. The truth stands regardless and the truth is this: I am a free individual with full rights to exercise my will, to state my opinions and to live freely without having to surrender my understanding of what is or is not offensive to someone else. In other words, my thoughts are my own and do not need to be checked by anyone else, just as yours are.
