That’s what I was told recently on social media because I don’t support the current POTUS. I didn’t vote for him because… well… take your pick…
And my reasons were before he was president.
This person went on and on about how voting Democrat meant that you couldn’t possibly be a Christian.
And there it is…one of the many problems with many Christians these days.
If someone doesn’t fit into their pretty little box then, according to them, you’re just not a Christian.
Turns out that you have to be anti a lot of people and ideas in order to be their flavor of Christian.
You hang out with gay people or transgender people without judging them and wanting to change them? You’re probably not a Christian.
“Like” a gay person’s picture on Facebook? You’re most likely not a Christian.
Think kneeling during the national anthem is a form of freedom of expression? Not only are you probably not a Christian but you also hate the United States.
If those are the things that mean that you’re a Christian these days then maybe that lady was right. Maybe there are no Christian Democrats. I, for one, do not want to be that kind of Christian. It’s almost embarrassing to even think of myself as one, when these days they seem to have a lot to do with judging, shaming and ostracizing.
And yet…
I still go to church although I’ve had some days when church was a coffee shop with a friend or church was helping another friend save a spot for her church’s barbecue.
Love people, especially those who have been abandoned, shamed or ostracized.
8–5–2020 update
It’s been almost a year since I first posted this.
Here is my question lately: Why is it that with racial issues and social justice issues some Christians say things like “they need Jesus” or “it’s a heart issue” but with other issues like abortion they will continue to vote for Trump this year. Is it really that they just believe it’s a heart issue and nothing can be done or is it more along the lines that they don’t want to do anything about it? Because obviously they think that there are things that can be done to change the status quo.
