Dealing with the dusty framed mission statement of the BigCos is a little like going to Grandma’s for Sunday dinner. We don’t really pay attention to the lapses in political correctness or the smear of red lipstick a bit too wide on her wrinkled lips. We kind of laugh off her forgetfulness at remembering our names. She is old, been around forever and we may not hug her in a way that’s authentic, but we respect she’s been around a long time. She too, has small picture frames on her wall with sayings that seem quaint to us now. But she has been in our lives since we were born, and that seems to carry the day, plus she consistently has wrapped hard candy on the coffee table.
You are working with some of the most innovative NewCos on the planet. If you could write another post on the current ideas and “mission statements” of these companies, we could see what real impact and lasting impression in the hearts, minds and bottom lines new thinking can create. It would also be interesting to see how these companies go beyond just words and have their ideals turned into passionate, constant and continuous action.
