New Job Opening: For The Most Interesting Man in the World
(and the 10 qualifications to put you in the running).
Notice: After nine wonderful, adventure packed, enviable lifestyle-filled years, the most interesting man in the world, is well… we hate to even say it , but say it we must — just too old to leap out of the sky, to tweet, to take selfies, too old to be Cool and too old to, you know, with the ladies.
First, let’s look back, in memoriam:
Even his enemies list him as their emergency contact.
He bowls overhand.
He can speak Spanish in Russian.
His business card says “I’ll call you”.
So, it’s with great excitement we are letting the old guy go and moving onward and upward.
Our geniuses in marketing tell us, a new age brings new ideals about what makes a man interesting. After nine years, here’s what we’ve learned. We’ve finally recognized that just being great looking is not enough — because looks go away, skin starts to sag after all that sun and the beer, and sexy and old age is just — eewww. Being a great adventurer is not enough because arthritis gets in the way eventually, and living vicariously through yourself is just boring. Being surrounded by beautiful women? Sure, works for a while and then we realize he had to have to have a conversation with them, and they were after the fame and glory, not the man.
So, what does it take, in the year 2016 to be the most interesting man in the world?
- Wander and wonder: be curious
Ask great questions. Keep an open mind. Don’t label something as boring just because you know nothing about it. Learn.
2. Find your element*
Find the place where your personal passion and natural talent intersect. Then go. Do that.
3. Find your power
Affect events, improve and influence your own welfare and maybe even that of society.
4. Make connections
Build relationships — real ones, in person.
5. Be a giver**
Introduce people to each other, share ideas, be a mentor, take a call from someone you don’t know.
6. Mix and Match: Try New Things
Learn about stuff that’s not in your wheelhouse. Try things.
7. Be an amateur
Pursue all your passions just for experience. Not to make money. Not to make it a job. Just for the pure joy of it.
8. Create a positive energy field
Many opportunities are created by the energy that surrounds you.
9. Be open to everything
The something you may be looking for may find you.
10. Go. Do something already.
Doing, creating, participating, laughing, singing, sharing, mentoring, collaborating, inventing, disrupting and innovating is what will make and most importantly, keep you interesting until you take your last breath.
