Beats X Bluetooth® headphones

Apple’s decision to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack may seem a bit odd, but with enhancements in the Bluetooth technology, you really won’t miss it. If you love listening to music on your iPhone 7, then you will love this next gadget. The BeatsX Bluetooth® headphones are arguably the best Bluetooth® headphones you can buy. The sound quality is amazing, and the built quality rivals Apple!

The BeatsX connect to the iPhone 7 using Bluetooth technology and feature a built-in microphone for a truly hands-free experience. With an incredible 8-hour playback time, you won’t need to charge your BeatsX the whole day. And if you do, just a 5-minute charge will give you a playback of up to 2 hours!

The noise isolation technology allows you to immerse into the music without having to disconnect from your surroundings. The innovative acoustic design allows the BeatsX to deliver a high fidelity, crisp sound that is distortion-free and rich in bass.

The unique design allows you to wear the headphones with the flex cable behind your neck. The magnetic earbuds stick to each other when you are not wearing them, forming a necklace for added security. The in-line controls allow you to control the music, adjust volume and even invoke Siri!

Coming in at $150, they are a bit on the expensive side, but the quality and durability make them a great buy.

  • Ease of use: 5/5
  • Design: 4/5
  • Durability: 5/5

User Review:

For the past year+ I’ve had the MEE audio AF18 Bluetooth Wireless Sports Earphones which I’ve also reviewed and have been perfectly adequate — recommended. The one downside of the AF18 is the short battery life — something like 1–2 hours, which is OK for a couple of morning runs and some outdoor chores but grew annoying over time. Over time there have also been more frequent dropped bluetooth connections, even with the AF18 within a couple of feet from the iPhone on my belt holder. The BeatsX seemed to fit the bill of enhanced sound, better Bluetooth performance and above all, better battery performance.I got the BeatsX on sale for $119 and am very satisfied after almost a month of use. First the sound — -much better than the AF18’s, and almost as good as my RHA MA750i wired earbuds. Very good bass and midrange and the overall sound presentation is smooth. Volume is more than ample. The Bluetooth connection seems impeccable, although it took a little fiddling to first connect to my iPhone and then the iPad, which wouldn’t connect to BeatsX unless iPhone was disconnected from the earbuds. The stability of the BeatsX in my ear is also excellent, since my main use for them is running/walking/garden chores and they stay put. I’m using the eartips that were already installed when I opened the box — they seemed to be a perfect fit, so I haven’t tried any other ones. Its in the 80s here in the South even though its only April, and I’ve been running/working a lot and the BeatsX have stayed firmly in place in my ear. As far as battery life, I’ve recharged them several times and the life seems to be about 8 hours listening to a mix of music/podcasts.Overall the fit and finish of the BeatsX have a high quality feel — the wires, connections, the control buttons, etc. It seems like a unit that will stand up to daily use for years, although time will tell.Comfort: the wires/battery units that hang down on either side of the neck are comfortable enough and haven’t been a problem while doing lots of yard work as well as running. The earbuds fit snugly in the ear and don’t protrude much, so it would be difficult to dislodge them accidentally. The one thing I’m not crazy about is the power switch being on the right side and the remote control unit being on left side — not intuitive at all — but considering all the positives of these phones, it’s not a big deal.Another nice touch is the audio signal when the unit is powered on or off. Since the on-off control is invisible to sight when powering on or off, you can tell the unit is off by the sound sequence that plays.Update 7/11/17: After less than 3 months of regular light use (about 1–2 hours daily) the BeatsX died — would not turn on after I recharged it last week. Nothing helped, including rebooting or Apple reps suggestions. I sent the unit back with prepaid Fedex shipping label and two days later received what I presume is a new BeatsX headphone set + new eartips. Charged it up yesterday and tried it out this morning, and the buttons seem more responsive than first unit. Sounds fine. I’m not changing the rating because — stuff breaks — and Apple responded quickly and efficiently.
