I am Greek. For us education was (unfortunately not anymore) the broadening of one’s horizons. The knowledge of many things, from mathematics to history and from physics to foreign languages. And also the learning of music and the involvement with athletics. And of course the creation of character and moral ethics. And that is why we use the word “morphosis” which means exactly “taking shape and final form, or being really mature”.
On the other hand indoctrination is for fools who are being told what is wrong and what is right but will never be given the mental “equipment” to have judgement and understand by themselves or think for themselves.
So I will stick with education, because in Greek it means to make someone really trained to live life however it hits him.
And of course I don’t mean anyone from the ones that you mentioned, because I know that anyone can be really educated and also anyone can be just an ape with a diploma.
