Hyper Light Drifter
Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D indie action RPG with 8-bit and 16-bit classics that was released in 2016, and was developed by The Heart Machine. The engine it runs on is GameMaker: Studio. Common platforms it runs on are Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and of course PC (Steam). It is thought of as a mix between The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, and Diablo. It was originally posted on kickstarter in 2014 with a goal of $27,000., but surprised everyone with a groundbreaking $645,158 (and had about 24,150 backers)!
“Visions for this game have been fluttering in my skull for ages; something dark and fantastic, with giant forests to navigate, huge floating structures to explore, deep crumbling ruins to loot, massive throngs of enemies to rend, and behemoths both flesh and mechanical to overcome.” Alex Preston (lead developer) says. In this game you are a hero named a Drifter. Many of the Drifters are traveling the world to try and cure the sickness they live with everyday, searching through many different biomes looting different places to find an answer or cure to the sickness. Oh, and there is absolutely no dialogue. Every converation with NPC’s is picture based, and there is no English anywhere to show you what to do. You do it all on your own. There are 4 different biomes in this game, the Northern Windy Mountains, the Crystal Forest to the West, the Lake to the East, and the Plains to the South. In each area there is one main boss who controls the whole area, and you kill them to move on. In each area there are 8 modules, which when you collect interact with the town square where secrets are unlocked if you collect all 32. There are many different secrets within every part of the game that will take a while for you to find.

This is your main character named the Drifter.

This is the female character you can choose, also known as the Alternate Drifter. It was a kickstarter exclusive, but was added later into the game (can be choose as a new character in a new save).

These are all the different outfit sets that you can use in the game. To get these you have to explore through the separate parts of the world.

And finally, this is a zoomed out picture of the whole game world in Hyper Light Drifter. West is the Crystal Forest, North is the Windy Mountains, East is the Lake, and South is the Plains.
This game is on sale now for $20, but I personally bought it when on sale for $10 last year. I recommend watching the game trailer for yourself and seeing if you would want to buy the game, but if it is on sale, I would say buy it.
