Today social networks are nothing short of a dump full of hate opinions, comments, and, dare I say, droppings of overly zealous right and left activists. Meanwhile, our beloved TV channels have stirred up hysteria, bombarding us with every catastrophic “breaking news” imaginable. The idea is that something monumentally earth-shattering (usually for all the wrong reasons) is about to happen. The result? An atmosphere that shortens our attention to about ten seconds— like trying to appreciate life through a keyhole. In the scheme of history, however, nothing happens in 10 seconds. Maybe you drop your glass of whisky.
Look at America today, there’s hardly any politics — just tech economics! In this grand game of Monopoly, Americans might appear apolitical because our country runs more like a giant corporation than a democratic nation. We’ve crafted a modern-day feudal society where the only real power lies in amassing or controlling huge piles of cash. In this arena, the true kingpins aren’t elected officials trying to please the people — they’re the corporate titans making sure that the game always favors them.
