50 Shades of Muse
The old woman bares her breast
And they say she merely wishes to rest. Wizened old men sit and stare
And they say their mind’s unclear:
Which is clearer, yours or theirs
Laden with all your bias?
Silence! learn some ancient wisdom
On your knees ask what they see
The insanity we call freedom
The vision behind those rare smiles
That would puzzle Monalisa
The spirit of youth suffers myopia.
Father Time in silent grief
Stares in utter disbelief
As seconds burn in wanton slaughter
On altars of idle chatter.
Wasted years none can reclaim
Sons of men should know the same
For what's the gain of idle utterance:
Time consuming, lacking substance?
The quality of one's years
Lies not in volume of days
For history shall only recount
How one made one's seconds count.
Nations rise and kingdoms fall
Culture, fashion, all evolve
Ideologies wax and wane
Father Time observes us still
Who can beat his chest and say
'This is an abomination!'
For most of history's sacrilege
Make today's celebration.
We fight for what is bound to pass
We fight as if we can outlast
The Earth; so we prefer
To fight and die than to share.
Yet today shall soon rely
On memory's silent film
And the present, by and by,
Make tomorrow's history class.
Nations rise and kingdoms fall
Culture, fashion, all evolve
And upon ethereal throne
Father Time observes us all.
Final Note…
Clocks measure our life, not time. Time is constant; its our life that’s transient. Let us decide to love more and hate less.
Much less. Like, in mathematics parlance, tend to zero.
Life is nothing without some love and happiness. Everything else is a mirage.
So spend time with your family. Help a stranger in need. Have a nice time with your friends. Plan an elaborate treat for your loved one(s). Put a smile on people’s face, one person at a time. Always radiate love and happiness. Embrace diversity - appreciate and learn from other cultures instead of imprisoning your mind with discrimination or xenophobia.
Learn. Love. Live. Be happy.
At the end of the line, these memories would be all that matters to you. The rest are abstract.
Happy weekend, people.
