I’m not a Ghostbusters fanboy by any means but I am a fanboy of other similar properties and I could tell where this was going to from the start.

There were 2 major flaws the studio made when producing this movie:

1: rebooting the franchise and essentially throwing away the original IP, while still making allusions to the original. For example using the original theme song. It’s like you’re simultaneously giving your fans the finger and throwing them a bone.

2: failing to know your target audience when choosing a director. You knew what Feig was before you hired him, and you wagered a likely billion dollar film on a director of smaller budget comedies with female leads. The target audience for Spy and Bridesmaids (generally speaking) isn’t the same as Ghostbusters.
