Lessons, Pixels and Inspiration.
On a Sunday afternoon Steve Jobs called Vic ‘Vivek’ Gundotra.
and said-
“I’ve been looking at the Google logo on the iPhone and I’m not happy with the icon. The second O in Google doesn’t have the right yellow gradient. It’s just wrong and I’m going to have Greg fix it tomorrow. Is that okay with you?”
This is an extract from an article I read recently.
This piece of information I stumbled upon above was truly inspiring and led to deeper introspection within me. On how the little things can make such a long lasting impact, without even realizing mindfully, to most onlookers.
I was lost in wonder and this made me dwell deeper to craving a longing desire to have met this man, even more. I grew up admiring him for his beautifully designed products and their simplicity, but most importantly about experiencing how holding any Apple product was so magical.
The next day, the founder of Preseed, Nishchal pointed out something similar about a logo for one of our projects within Preseed. He exclaimed- “ Are you blind. This logo isn’t evenly defined!”
It was our logo which is within a box, and one of the yellow line was thicker than the other. Now, if you looked at it with naked eyes, most wouldn’t probably see it, until you zoomed in.
Now tell me, how blessed must I feel to be surrounded by a visionary like him, who looks into the details of every pixel on his brand.
Nishchal is someone who (already) comes close to Steve Jobs. In terms of his precision to details, even with the little things that one may ignore.
His journey had been one that is odd and truly inspiring. Starting from willingly dropping out of college and raising investments of over 100,000 USD with just his vision on chart papers and mere words. (You can read more about his life, about half a decade ago, here.)
Its important to share an incident with you, for you to understand more deeply in which direction Preseed is moving. I was with Nishchal for one of his family functions and I realised that he comes from a highly educated and well achieved extended family and most of them are director level people in big MNCs, for example — MSL( Asia Head) and Goldman Sachs (MD), to name a few. The way they greeted and met Nishchal was truly awe-inspiring and respectful. In fact his relative who is an MD at Goldman Sachs, already knew about Todoed and what we are baking at Preseed and referred to him as ‘Mr.Jobs’. Nishchal hasn’t been in touch or dialogues with any of them, but they were up to date on what he was doing. I got the sense of how inspired they are by his life decisions and where he is today. He commands an extraordinary work force to reckon with in the future.
This is one example of how impactful this man is with his life through his works, to even those who he barely communicated with, other than possible social interactions every other year. I can leave the rest to your imagination, on how this man has the extra ordinary skill and will of moving and shaking people.
I often think of him like a Steve Jobs, already, without even owning a company which is not the same in tangible value of Apple. Maybe that’s what made Steve Jobs the man he was, his precision and his vision, and subsequently Apple, the company it was. Well then, I can be almost rest assured that the world is looking at the beginnings and the deep rooted foundation of a company, a culture which Nishchal is building at Preseed, the name and impact of which, would live for generations to come after you and me are gone.
You can follow Nishchal on medium as well. The content of his writing is authentic and interesting.
The man behind a revolution, brewing.
