Protecting The Flame

I glance at you repeatedly the first few times I saw you, for I need to etch your sway, your elegance, your aura into my memory. Decades later when the unfortunate disease of familiarity sets in between us, I’ll rely on those breathless moments to remind me of the spell you had on me. I promise then, to see you with a sparkling eye — to put you at the center of the stage, to lift you up with soft-talk & cold guided downpour of attention — I’ll burn-out first before I let the flames go out.
