Emerge Update: Week 11

April 3, 2016

At this week’s meeting, Lauren and I checked in with the video content creators. We reviewed Matt’s footage for Ringside, gave our feedback, and answered his questions about release forms. Then we checked in with Anne for The Friendship Project, viewed her latest episode, and provided feedback. It looks great so far and we’re really looking forward to seeing her next episode. We also showed Anne her finalized Web Mag graphic, which she is really happy about. Lauren and I also attended the CMA presentation where Daniela and Sofia spoke about the sessions they attended in New York. Hearing about their sessions was helpful because we could see the areas where we are on track and the areas where we can improve on.

During the week, we have been continuing communication with content creators over Facebook to check in and answer any questions. I communicated with the Image Arts students that were interviewed for the Gallery Page and Lindsay over Facebook to sort out which social media accounts they wanted linked to their interview. At first Lindsay didn’t think that she could link two social media accounts but then she figured out that she could link one account (Instagram) to their portrait and the second account (personal website) under their name. Additionally, Daniela, Lauren and I have been communicating with Belinda over Facebook to share thoughts and opinions on the progress of the Gallery Page and what can be done to improve it. This was the only semi-challenging aspect that we ran into this week due to the fact that it isn’t the easiest to communicate exactly how you feel through digital media. There were conflicting opinions and some miscommunication, which is normal, and it has since been resolved. On the weekend, Belinda’s interview for the Resilience Gallery was uploaded to the Gallery Page. There is one more interview that should be uploaded within the next week and then the interview posts will be complete.

Also this week, Lauren and I have been finalizing our images for the Resilience Gallery. Contacts sheets were due on Thursday and we are now in the post-processing stage.

In the week ahead, all EICs will be working on our Letter from the Editors for the Web Mag, taking our EIC headshot gifs, and continuing to put content out.
