No, No, No, and No! GitHub should be never a requirement for a new hire and you should never expect from candidates to have a presence on GitHub.

It is no shame to not have coding as a hobby on the side. Some prefer to code only for work and have other hobbies. If your solely rely on a GitHub presence for coding experience you surely will miss talents!

Btw. you need to check GitLab and BitBucket too if this is still a hint requirement for you…
