I know people who have dealt with much worse.

Experience is experience is experience. Trauma is trauma is trauma, loss is loss is loss. It all counts. That other people have any of those things does not invalidate your experience or feelings of worth. It is not for anybody else to say how you experienced your time in war, or how you might have been traumatized or how you feel about it. Almost everyone you meet will say that somebody had it worse and that is part of the humility of humans. But we are all affected by the choices we make and the roles we play. And that’s okay. As long as we know that we can ask for support.
