Cultural ideals about women and certain aspects of Islam being used to defend and explain those ideal certainly come into play here with the treatment of women in these societies. For instance, the story of Ayesha in the Quran, as well as that of the servant boys in heaven, could contribute to the defense of child marriage and practices like “bacha bazi” as being justified in these countries.
