Meet Dylan Allura :

How has the year been?

Like everyone, this year has been a shakeup, I’ve had to rethink my plans for the year to fit around the current Covid restrictions. Nonetheless, I’ve tried to not allow it to affect my progress, if anything this year has taught me that you need to be adaptable, constantly evolving, or you’ll remain stagnant.

Who is your musical inspiration — any particular songs in mind?

I’m inspired by every genre I listen to, whether it be inspiration from the lyrics, sound, mood, or style. But I’m always more drawn to music that gets you in your feelings, Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, Sade, to name a few.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Who are your other favourite artists?

Where to begin! I’m a kid of the 2000s so a lot of my favourite artists are those that are big right now. Some of my favourites at the moment are Summer Walker, SZA and Jhene Aiko. Michael Jackson, Massive Attack and Sade are some of my older favourites. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were the first group that got me wanting to perform.

What are you up to at the moment for work, tell us about the music you are currently releasing?

At the moment I’m keeping up with everything, writing, recording, working on visuals. I’ve had to put performing on hold though. I’m about to (or have just released) a song called Libertine. If you want to know what it’s about, search up the word and the meaning will make the song make sense.

Who do you call when you want to have fun?

Can I call myself? My idea of fun is a night in watching my favourite tv show or writing and reading, ha! But in reality, I’d call one of my close friends and we’d probably just spend hours talking about everything and anything.

Where has been a favourite place to go during this pandemic?

My favourite place to go has been wherever my friends are at, that’s what’s really kept me going during this pandemic. Whether it’s the small gatherings with them or the one to ones whilst out of lockdowns. I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through this without them.

Your favourite hotel and your favourite place to travel?

My favourite place to travel to is New York, it’s a second home to me. I haven’t done much travelling to the south of the world and I’d really like to, I imagine I’d love South America and Africa if I went. My favourite hotel is the Bel Air in Los Angeles, I feel like I’m in a Lana Del Rey music video when I’m there.

What do you hope for in the next few years?

I hope we get back to “normal”, but I also hope that we’ve learnt a lot of valuable lessons over the past year. I’d love to do more performing over the next few years at home in London but also across the world. I think it’d also be cool to do some collabs, I love working with new people on different sounds and within different genres. Let’s see what the future holds.
