Louder than a Bomb MA Team Finals

This past month, over 300 youth poets from 40 communities across the state competed for a chance to advance in the 5th annual youth poetry slam tournament. #LTABMA is in year 5 and Mass LEAP is so excited to announce this year’s team finalists for finals on May 6th at The Strand Theater.

Three Things about Queer Threads // Gallery Tour

Join BCA for the launch of their new program “Three Things about…”, a series of informal gallery tours led by community members sharing a unique point of view.
Sarah Parrish leads a tour of our current exhibition “Queer Threads” with a focus on “Self, Community and Belonging”.
Sarah Parrish is a PhD candidate in the History of Art & Architecture at Boston University, where her research focuses on how American fiber artists of the 1960s and 1970s engaged with other cultures. Previously, she was the Research Fellow for the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston’s 2014 exhibition Fiber: Sculpture 1960-Present, and has published and presented on textile topics in both public and academic forums.

Of the thousands of flowering plants in the Arboretum, only one, the lilac, is singled out each year for a daylong celebration. Join Hike4Life on Mother’s Day for a guided tour of the Arboretum, that will include a stop at the Lilac Sunday Festival!

After the hike, you can get food, participate in activities and enjoy what the festival has to offer.

Dudley Square-Eliot Square Cultural District

What might a cultural district in the Dudley Square and Eliot Square sections of Roxbury look like? What are our cultural assets? How could we use this state designation to collectively publicize and market the cultural assets and programming of this neighborhood? In Boston, there are currently two cultural district. The Boston Globe recently mentioned Roxbury and Jamaica Plain in an article about other potential districts in Boston; the Dorchester Reporter responded to The Boston Globe article in an editorial.
