Amazing Health Benefits From CBD When Dealing With Lyme Disease

Research into CBD and related cannabinoids and terpenes is relatively new. While there is current research into many well-known diseases, there are a great many lesser known diseases that disrupt millions of lives worldwide. Recently, I was asked by an individual with Lyme disease if CBD would help her.
First, let’s talk about the disease itself. While many people have never heard of Lyme disease, it is the most common disease transmitted by tick bites in both in North America and Europe. Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria in the United States and by either Borrelia afzelli or Borrelia garinii bacteria in Europe. Many patients bitten by ticks infected with the Borrelia bacteria that causes Lyme disease get better quickly with no treatment whatsoever, while others have permanent, debilitating symptoms years later, even after aggressive antibiotic treatment. For those patients with Lyme who do not get better, it’s only logical that they have developed problems with their immune systems. Further, since CB2 receptors are found on immune system cells, it is likely that the endocannabinoid system is impaired in these patients which prevents them from recovering. Given this, it’s sensible to try supportive full spectrum hemp oil. After all, cannabinoids like CBD, CBN, CBG, and CBC and well as many terpenes are considered highly anti-bacterial; that is, they are effective at killing bacteria, viruses, and fungus even very pernicious bacteria such as the flesh-eating bacteria MRSA. Even less known cannabinoids such as 8-hydroxycannabinol have very powerful antibacterial properties.
Aside from their anti-bacterial properties, the terpeno-phenolic compounds resident in full spectrum hemp can help reduce the sometime lifelong symptoms of Lyme disease, including pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, peripheral neuropathy, etc…..
