What is the Social Media skills Gap?

Social media is relatively new to our world today. Starting with Facebook in 2004, social media platforms have popped up all over the place in the past decade and a half. Billions of accounts across platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, but are these accounts being used to their fullest potential? Many people believe they understand social media and what it entails, but are they using it properly? People are not actually trained in the use of social media, but they believe they are. Just because someone uses a platform such as Twitter 24/7 doesn’t mean that they are educated on the platform. Being literate in and on social media is much more difficult than some people believe. It takes a lot of time and understanding to completely utilize social media platforms to their fullest potential, and that is where the gap comes in. The true gap is the people that believe they know what they’re doing on social media, when they aren’t using the platform to it’s fullest.
