If teens are spending their money in stores, they’re definitely not spending it in any of the stores that have suffered or closed lately. Only a few of the major retail chain closures should be surprising if most of retail’s spending power comes from teens. Other than maybe Wet Seal, Spencer’s Gifts, and Smart Set (in Canada), were any of the now-bankrupt retail chains really heavily reliant on the teen market?
